Creator Terms & Conditions
Last updated: May 22, 2026 · Effective immediately upon acceptance
1. Introduction & Acceptance
These Creator Terms & Conditions (“Creator Terms”) govern your participation in the Courses creator program (“Platform”), operated by Courses (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By clicking “I agree” during the creator onboarding process, or by uploading any content or activating your creator account, you agree to be bound by these Creator Terms in addition to our general Sales & Refund Terms and Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree to these Creator Terms, you may not participate in the creator program.
2. Eligibility & Account Requirements
To become a creator on the Platform, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age;
- Complete the creator onboarding process, including connecting a valid Stripe Connect account for payouts;
- Provide accurate and complete information about yourself and your business;
- Maintain your Stripe Connect account in good standing, including completing any verification requirements requested by Stripe;
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction.
Your ability to receive payouts depends on Stripe's availability, your account verification status, and your compliance with Stripe's terms of service. If Stripe restricts, pauses, or terminates your connected account for any reason, we may suspend related platform functionality — including payouts, course sales, and storefront visibility — until the issue is resolved. We are not responsible for actions taken by Stripe on your account.
We reserve the right to refuse or revoke creator status at our sole discretion.
3. Content Standards & Prohibited Content
As a creator, you are solely responsible for all content you upload, publish, or make available on the Platform (“Creator Content”). You represent and warrant that your Creator Content:
- Is accurate, complete, and of professional quality appropriate for the subject matter;
- Does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights, including copyrights, trademarks, or patents;
- Does not contain false, misleading, or deceptive information;
- Complies with all applicable laws, including consumer protection and advertising laws.
The following content is strictly prohibited on the Platform:
- Content involving minors: Any content that sexualizes, exploits, endangers, or is otherwise inappropriate involving persons under the age of 18. Violation of this provision will result in immediate account termination and may be reported to law enforcement.
- Dangerous or harmful content: Content that promotes, instructs, or facilitates dangerous activities, the use of hazardous substances, self-harm, or harm to others.
- Hate speech & discrimination: Content that promotes hatred, violence, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
- Illegal content: Content that violates any applicable law or regulation, including content that facilitates illegal activity.
- Spam or misleading content: Artificially inflated reviews, fake engagement, or misleading course descriptions.
- Adult or explicit content: Sexually explicit material of any kind.
4. Content Moderation & Review
All courses submitted for publication are subject to review by our moderation team before they become publicly available. We reserve the right to:
- Approve a course for publication;
- Request revisions if content does not meet our standards;
- Reject or remove a course that violates these Creator Terms.
We use automated tools, including video analysis, AI-based content review, and content scanning, to assist with moderation. These automated systems may occasionally produce inaccurate results or false-positive flags. In all cases, the Platform retains final moderation authority. You acknowledge and consent to this review process. Moderation decisions are at our sole discretion.
We reserve the right to review any content at any time, including after publication, and to take action if content is found to violate these Creator Terms.
5. Video Content & Storage
The Creator Studio — including all video upload and storage functionality — is provided exclusively for the purpose of creating and publishing educational courses on the Platform. It may not be used as general-purpose video storage, a personal media library, or for any purpose unrelated to courses offered through your storefront.
Videos uploaded to the Platform are hosted via Bunny CDN, a third-party video hosting and streaming service. By uploading videos, you acknowledge and agree that:
- We have the right to access, review, and inspect all video content you upload for moderation, quality assurance, and compliance purposes;
- We may use automated tools to analyze video content, including frame extraction and content scanning;
- Videos are stored on Bunny CDN infrastructure and are subject to Bunny CDN’s terms of service;
- We reserve the right to delete or remove any video content that violates these Creator Terms or our content policies;
- We reserve the right to delete video content and associated storage data for courses that have been inactive for an extended period (no edits, no active shop, and no recent student activity), following reasonable notice where practicable.
6. Inactive Content & Storage Cleanup
To maintain platform quality and manage storage resources, we reserve the right to remove courses and associated video content that meet all of the following criteria:
- The course has not been edited or updated for a prolonged period;
- The course has no active storefront or is unpublished;
- The course has no recent student purchases or activity.
Where reasonably practicable, we will notify you before removing inactive content. You are responsible for maintaining backups of your own content.
7. Revenue Share, Commission & Payments
As a creator, you earn a percentage of each sale made through your storefront. The current platform commission is 10% per sale. This means you keep up to 90% of the sale price (before applicable taxes and payment processing fees).
Commission changes
We may adjust the commission percentage in the future to reflect changes in platform costs, services, or market conditions. Any change will be communicated via email or a prominent notice in your Creator Studio at least 30 days before taking effect. The updated rate will apply only to sales made after the effective date — it will not be applied retroactively to prior transactions. Your continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated commission rate.
Course rules
All courses published on the Platform must comply with the following requirements regarding pricing and duration:
| Rule | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Minimum price (under 5 hours) | 19 EUR / USD / GBP |
| Minimum price (5 hours or more) | 29 EUR / USD / GBP |
| Maximum price | 2,000 EUR / USD / GBP |
| Minimum course duration | 15 minutes |
| Maximum course duration | 15 hours |
We commit to not adjusting these thresholds without providing at least 30 days' prior notice via email or a prominent notice in your Creator Studio.
Payment processing fees
Payment processing is handled by Stripe. Stripe charges its own processing fees on each transaction. These fees are non-refundable — including in cases of buyer refunds, disputes, chargebacks, or payment reversals. When a refund or chargeback occurs, the original payment processing fee is not returned by Stripe, and you remain responsible for any resulting financial shortfall. For current processing rates, please refer to Stripe's pricing page.
Payouts & holds
Payouts are processed via Stripe Connect. You must maintain a valid, verified Stripe account to receive payments. We may temporarily delay, hold, reserve, reverse, or withhold payouts when reasonably necessary for:
- Fraud prevention or suspected fraudulent activity;
- Pending or active chargebacks or disputes;
- Compliance checks or legal obligations;
- Platform security or abuse investigations;
- Suspicious transaction patterns or abnormal refund rates;
- Any other circumstance where releasing funds would expose the Platform to material financial risk.
We will make reasonable efforts to resolve holds promptly and to communicate the reason for any delay. Payout timing may also be affected by Stripe's own processing schedules, bank processing times, and your account verification status.
Refunds & chargebacks
- Refunds issued to buyers will be deducted from your earnings. See our Refund Policy for details;
- In the event of a chargeback or dispute initiated by a buyer, the disputed amount (plus any fees imposed by Stripe) may be deducted from your pending balance or future payouts;
- You are responsible for any negative balance resulting from refunds, chargebacks, or payment reversals related to your sales.
Excessive refunds & disputes
Creators with excessive refund rates, dispute rates, chargebacks, or suspicious transaction patterns may be subject to:
- Payout delays or temporary holds;
- Manual review of account activity;
- Course removal or storefront suspension;
- Account suspension or termination.
We determine what constitutes “excessive” at our reasonable discretion, taking into account industry norms and the financial risk to the Platform.
VAT rates applied to sales
| Buyer location | B2C (consumer) | B2B (business) |
|---|---|---|
| Netherlands | 21% VAT | 21% VAT |
| EU (other member states) | 21% VAT | 0% (reverse charge) |
| Outside EU | 0% | 0% |
VAT is handled by the platform and is not deducted from your earnings. The above rates are applied to the buyer at checkout.
8. Intellectual Property
You retain ownership of all intellectual property rights in your Creator Content. By publishing content on the Platform, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, stream, and distribute your content to students who have purchased access, and to use your content for platform operations, moderation, and promotional purposes (such as displaying course thumbnails and previews).
This license continues for as long as your content is available on the Platform and, with respect to students who have purchased access, for as long as those students retain access rights (see Section 10).
9. Platform Relationship
Creators are the sellers of their courses. Cursello provides the platform, hosting, and payment infrastructure. Cursello does not create, own, or control the content of any course published by creators.
The relationship between Cursello and creators is that of a technology service provider and an independent seller. Creators are not employees, agents, or representatives of Cursello. Nothing in these Creator Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, or employment relationship between you and Cursello.
10. Creator Responsibilities & Liability
As a creator on the Platform, you are solely responsible for:
- Course content: The accuracy, quality, safety, legality, and completeness of all content you publish, including ensuring that any techniques, products, or advice are safe and appropriate for the intended audience;
- Course pricing:Setting and managing the price of your courses within the platform's minimum and maximum thresholds;
- Customer support: Responding to legitimate student inquiries and support requests in a timely and professional manner;
- Refund decisions: Handling refund requests that fall outside the platform's automated 14-day refund window. Creators are responsible for refund decisions unless otherwise required by applicable law;
- Applicable taxes: Determining and fulfilling all tax obligations arising from your sales, including income taxes, VAT registration and reporting (where applicable), tax filings, business registration requirements, and any other local, regional, or national tax compliance requirements in your jurisdiction;
- Any claims, damages, or losses arising from your Creator Content, including claims by students or third parties;
- Maintaining the quality and relevance of your courses over time;
- Any financial losses, negative balances, or fees resulting from refunds, chargebacks, disputes, or payment reversals related to your sales.
The Platform does not provide tax, legal, or financial advice and is not responsible for your compliance with applicable laws. We recommend consulting qualified professionals in your jurisdiction.
We are not liable for any harm, injury, or damage resulting from techniques or advice contained in your courses.
11. Creator Conduct & Student Relations
As a creator, you represent your own brand and, by extension, the Platform. You are expected to interact with students and other platform users in a professional and respectful manner at all times. The following conduct is strictly prohibited:
- Insulting, harassing, threatening, or demeaning students or other users, whether in course content, messages, or any other communication channel on the Platform;
- Discriminatory language or behavior toward any person based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic;
- Retaliating against students who leave negative reviews or request refunds;
- Sharing or disclosing private student information without their explicit consent.
We reserve the right to monitor communications on the Platform to ensure compliance with these standards. Violations may result in immediate account suspension or termination.
12. Student Access After Account Deletion
If you delete your creator account or your account is terminated, students who have previously purchased your courses will retain access to the course content they purchased. This is to protect the legitimate interests of paying students.
Specifically:
- Video content associated with purchased courses will remain accessible to students who have paid for access;
- We may maintain a copy of your content solely for the purpose of fulfilling these ongoing student access obligations;
- No new sales will be made after your account is deleted or deactivated.
13. Enforcement, Abuse & Account Actions
We reserve the right to take the following actions in response to violations of these Creator Terms or misuse of the Platform:
- Issue a warning and request corrective action;
- Temporarily suspend your creator account;
- Permanently remove you from the creator program and terminate your account;
- Remove or unpublish any or all of your courses;
- Withhold or reverse pending payouts in cases of fraud, chargebacks, or policy violations;
- Report illegal activity to the appropriate authorities.
Abuse of the Platform — including any attempt to exploit, circumvent, or misuse Platform features in ways that were not intended — is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Using the Creator Studio or video storage for purposes other than publishing courses (e.g., personal media storage, file hosting, or content unrelated to your storefront);
- Exploiting technical loopholes, workarounds, or indirect methods to bypass Platform rules, access controls, or usage limits;
- Artificially manipulating sales figures, reviews, enrollment numbers, or any other Platform metrics;
- Creating multiple accounts to circumvent a suspension, ban, or other enforcement action;
- Uploading prohibited content;
- Fraudulent activity;
- Any other material violation of these Creator Terms.
We actively monitor Platform activity and reserve the right to investigate suspected abuse. Confirmed abuse may result in immediate account termination without prior notice.
14. Platform Nature & Financial Disclaimer
The Platform is a technology service that facilitates the sale and delivery of digital educational content. The Platform is not a bank, financial institution, escrow service, payment processor, or financial advisor. Funds held in your Stripe Connect account are managed by Stripe in accordance with Stripe's terms of service — not by us.
We do not guarantee any specific level of income, sales volume, or financial return from your participation in the creator program.
15. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Platform and all related features, tools, and services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that the Platform is free of bugs, viruses, or other harmful components. You use the Platform at your own risk and are responsible for maintaining your own backups of your content and business records.
Nothing in these Creator Terms excludes or limits any warranty or right that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable mandatory law.
16. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Platform, its owners, directors, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, sales, goodwill, data, or business opportunities, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Platform — whether based on contract, tort (including negligence), or any other legal theory, and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to these Creator Terms or your use of the Platform shall not exceed the total amount of platform commission we actually retained from your sales during the six (6) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
These limitations do not apply to liability arising from our own intent or gross negligence, from death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or from any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable mandatory law. Where applicable law does not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, our liability is limited to the smallest extent permitted by that law.
Third-party services & outages
The Platform relies on third-party infrastructure and service providers to operate, including (but not limited to) Stripe for payment processing, Amazon Web Services (AWS) for hosting, and Bunny CDN for video delivery. We are not liable for any loss, damage, delay, or disruption caused by:
- Outages, downtime, or service interruptions at Stripe, AWS, Bunny CDN, or any other third-party provider;
- Payment processing delays, failed transactions, or payout delays caused by Stripe or banking infrastructure;
- DNS failures, network interruptions, or internet connectivity issues;
- Any other infrastructure failure or event outside our reasonable control (force majeure).
We will make commercially reasonable efforts to restore service promptly and to communicate known issues, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the Platform or any of its features.
17. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Platform, its owners, directors, employees, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, demands, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your Creator Content, including any claim that it is inaccurate, unsafe, unlawful, or infringes the rights of any third party;
- Any harm, injury, loss, or damage suffered by a student or third party as a result of techniques, products, or advice in your courses;
- Your breach of these Creator Terms or violation of any applicable law or regulation;
- Your failure to meet your tax, business registration, or other regulatory obligations;
- Any dispute between you and a student or other third party.
We reserve the right, at our own expense, to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you, in which case you agree to cooperate with us in asserting any available defenses.
18. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of any content on the Platform that violates these Creator Terms or applicable law, you are encouraged to report it to us promptly. We take all reports seriously and will investigate in a timely manner.
19. Changes to Creator Terms
We may update these Creator Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a prominent notice in your Creator Studio. Your continued use of the creator program after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
20. Governing Law
These Creator Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under these Creator Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts.
